Amsterdam, the Netherlands
Last Thursday it was Valentine’s Day, and of course me and my partner went out for dinner! This year I was in charge of picking out a restaurant, and I chose to reserve at The Meets Eatery in the eastern part of Amsterdam, for a vegan Valentine’s Day dinner.
The Meets has an interesting approach to the food that they serve: They follow an 80/20 rule: 80% of the menu is plant-based, with 20% animal produced. They have two locations in Amsterdam; One in the Pijp, and one in Oost, and they also offer take out-food!
The decoration in Oost was cosy and intimate, with in the background somewhat oldschool Latin dance music. For Valentine’s Day they had put roses on every table. Overall, I loved the vibe. And then the food. OMG. It was amazing. We will definitely come back there, even if it was just to try out the breakfast or lunch options!
What did we eat?
As a starter we had the vegetarian Meets Platter, consisting of sweet and truffle potato chips, bieterballs, farinata, falafel, hummus, guacamole and vegan mayonnaise. Extremely tasty.
Our in-between dish wasn’t planned, but we were so curious about the purple (!) cauliflower soup that we had to try it. It was creamy, delicious, and absolutely worth trying.
For the main dish, I had the Mexican Veggie Burger, which was vegan and made of black beans, quinoa, avocado and vegan mayonnaise on a sour dough bread. My partner had the vegan Meets balls, made of lentil balls, rice noodle sage sauce, vegetable tomato stew and crunchy Sicilian panelle.
We were kind of sad at the end of the main dish, because we were both so full that we couldn’t even try the delicious looking sweets any more!
Where can I find this restaurant?
